Rowan Phillips, shamanic healer, in her yurt in Great Durnford

A PATH INTO
SHAMANIC HEALING
HEALING IN SALISBURY

Rowan Phillips is the founder of Soothing Dragons, offering shamanic healing, quantum frequency massage and intuitive bodywork from a woodland yurt in Great Durnford, near Salisbury. Her work combines massage, sound healing, energy practices and a deep connection with nature to support holistic wellbeing.

Ten years ago, I was lucky enough to take part in an incredible shamanic practitioner training in Glastonbury. It was one of the most gently profound and life-changing experiences of my life. Someone once described it as “ten years of psychotherapy in one year,” and that has always stayed with me.

Since then, my healing journey has continued to grow. I later trained in SCENAR, a small hand-held device I use alongside massage, and began working with the Tesla violet ray.

MY HEALING SPACE

SACRED HEALING
IN A WOODLAND YURT

More recently, I completed another shamanic course with the same teachers, which deepened my gifts, intuition and confidence in the way I work.

I work very closely with nature, from a beautiful yurt in my garden in the Woodford Valley, just outside Salisbury. The yurt lived in woodland for twenty years before coming to us, and it carries a magical energy all of its own. People often comment on how held and peaceful they feel in the space.

Working with what I now confidently call the subtle bodies and unseen realms can have a deeply powerful effect. Everyone’s experience is different, and sometimes the shifts take time to integrate into everyday life. Much of the work involves rest, relaxation and being held in a safe, sacred space, where the busy mind can soften for a while and the body and spirit can breathe.

I think this is partly why it has taken me ten years to fully show up as myself in this field, trusting that the way I work will be received with love by the right folk. A healthy reciprocation of energy feels very important to me. Not everyone is ready for deep healing work, and that can show up in many different ways.

WORKING WITH
THE BODY, ENERGY
AND SPIRIT

My work with the body began through massage. Over twenty years ago, I qualified in Swedish massage, and over time I have continued to add to my learning, weaving many different modalities into a deeper and more intuitive healing experience. I also use sound healing with tuning forks, the shamanic drum and crystal singing bowls.

My own journey with pain began when I was nineteen and started caring for ongoing back problems. That experience led to a passion for helping others who live with discomfort, both physical tension and the emotional weight the body can store over time.

My work has helped me tune in instinctively to where the body holds blocks and stuck energy. Together, we can begin to shift some of those painful energies and patterns. Many people come to me carrying tension, stress, emotional heaviness, or a sense of being stuck in old cycles and unable to fully step into life.

HEALING AS A
SHARED JOURNEY

I say “together” because, while healing energy may come through me, I believe each person plays an active role in their own healing journey.

We can spend our lives waiting for someone else to fix us, but for me, true healing begins when we gently take responsibility for our emotional, physical and spiritual wellbeing. Of course, we all need support along the way.

This work is my passion: helping people in Salisbury and beyond who are ready to reconnect with themselves and move forward with greater awareness, balance and wellbeing. When we begin to heal ourselves, that healing ripples outward into our relationships, our communities and the wider world.

I truly love the work that I do. It feels like a joy, an honour and a privilege to be doing what I believe I’m here to do.
